The Power of 4

"Mathematics is the language with which
God has ruled the universe." ~ Galileo.

Go back with me to a quick math lesson recall from Geometry (stay with me, it's short I promise).

Straight logic, right?  Let's apply one of the principles our Almighty God, the great Mathematician who designed numbers and the universe and our minds, created.

(a) - He knew we would need advice, help and support on this earth, in this broken life.

(b) He gave us His Holy Scriptures, His Word, that miraculously survived over the years, to guide us.

(c) -  He gave us the Holy Spirit as our "advocate", to help us understand His Word.

So, therefore, our support, guidance and help comes by way of the Holy Spirit guiding us as we read the Bible- the holy, inspired Word of God.  Isn't math awesome?

Don't just take this from an 8th grade math teacher.  Even man-made institutes support the benefits of reading the bible frequently, concluding that reading our Bible has an enormous impact on our lives.  In fact, just reading it four times a week has enormous benefits, according to the Center for BIble Engagement.  Here's what they found-

Here's some of how the Bible describes itself:

πŸ Š living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the hearts (Hebrews 4:12)

πŸ Š a lamp to our feet, a light to our path (Psalm 119:105)

πŸ Š breathed out by God, profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness so we are equipped (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

πŸ Š it stands forever (Isaiah 40:8)

πŸ Š it's flawless and a shield to those who take refuge in it (Proverbs 30:5)

πŸ Š it doesn't return empty; it accomplishes His purposes (Isaiah 55:11)

I know, you were told there would be no math.  But when something is this powerful and we are virtually lost in this broken world without it, why don't we saturate our minds with it every day?

✙ Dear Heavenly Father, we just have hearts of gratitude today for Your Word.  You know us so well that You made a way through Your Holy Word for us to know You better.  You send power and wisdom to us by way of Your Holy Spirit as we read it.  Help us to direct others to it.  We are eternally grateful to You.  Amen.

How to Fight Back the Darkness

Crosswalk image Nothing makes Satan weak in the knees more than when we are on our knees."   ~ Skip Heitzig, Pastor Death.  Killing.  Violence.  What do we do with such heavy hearts in such a dark time? With the knot in our throats and the pit in our stomachs that are weighing on our souls?  When we look around us, nothing on this broken earth can fill our void of sadness and despair.   So we look up to the One who created all things and who alone has the power to bring light and help: "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.   What does help look like?  When does it come?  How much will we get?  Anger, confusion, bitterness, hostility, helplessness and fear overcome us in different ways and at different times.  We want reasons- we ask, "Why, Lord, why?" We instinctively want a reckoning- someone to pay for the injustice that has happened....

Christmas in July

Google image "I will honor Christmas in my heart and try  to keep it all year." ~ Scrooge, A Christmas Carol 🌞Alright, alright - I hear you.  Please don't talk about Christmas while you are enjoying summer.  (But someone needs to hear this - there are only 157 days left.)  And you know what comes out  first- the school supplies, then one day later the autumn decor.  Then three days after that is Christmas everything.  And my happy meter spikes:)  I can already smell the pumpkin spice latte.☕ Now some may think I'm trying to throw shade on the whole summer experience. 😎 And you would be right.  I only endure summer because fall is just around the corner, and I am finally able to celebrate this time of year appropriately, without a start to school.   I will admit I love the poppies that are growing in my yard.  And of course the baby deer.  And the garden tomatoes and peaches.  OK, summer does have some redeemi...

Our Anthem

Google image " and this be our motto,  in God is our trust, " ~ "The Star-Spangled Banner, Francis Scott Key   I wake up this morning, shake out my creaky bones, and sit on the patio with a cup of coffee wondering if I am going to catch a glance of the baby deer.  I open my Bible, listen to the birds and breathe in the fresh air.  Probably going to have a hot dog later - a cheese-filled hot dog (a glorious thing I just discovered). There is no one to tell me when to get up, I don't have to hide my Bible, I don't hear any bombing in the distance.  My coffee is readily available, and I can leisurely sip it on my patio for as long as I want today.  It's Independence Day.    Thank you, patriots and their families.  Thank you for making this peaceful morning free of tyranny, bondage, fear and oppression.  Not all places in this world can say that. So many have been inspired by the courage displayed by those who fought for the freedoms ...
