Group Mentality for Individuality

✔ Here we are - the eve of 2026 - 26 years from when we thought the world would come to a halt causing us to stock up on water and food, while still celebrating like it's 1999 (thank you Prince) because it was.  

My guess is January 2 is the actual day all those New Year's Resolutions start because we want to eat all day tomorrow.  But there is definitely a "clean-it-out" vibe we get after the indulging over the holidays.  A desire to simplify our mind's path so we can get to who we are.


✔ If our country ever showed group mentality it's now.  People want you to pick a side and rearrange your life and project your voice to reflect it.  I do think we should pick a side, and it should be that we want to just listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit through God's Word, and align everything to that.

It sounds so simple, doesn't it?  And yet it can be one of the most challenging changes we ask ourselves to take on.  Fortunately we aren't alone when we take it on.  The group we join is all the saints (past people of faith that have gone on before us) who are on our side rooting us on (Heb 12:1), and the Lord, who gives us the strength daily, picking us up lovingly when we fail.



✔ So how do we start this challenge of living individually for the Lord?  Let's start right now by asking Him to give us His eyes, His heart, His priorities.  How do we know what those are?  By reading His Word - His gift to guide us.  

"And now, just as you have accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue 
to follow Him, Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him.
  Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will 
overflow with thankfulness.  Don't let anyone capture you with empty philosophies
 and high sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual
 powers of this world, rather than from Christ." Col 2:6-8

✔ Rulers and trends come and go, people live and die, but-

"The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of God will stand forever." Isaiah 40:8




✔ We all want to lose extra pounds, eat healthier, slow down, and exercise more to care for the bodies God has given us.  But the best way to live tomorrow is to start by refreshing our souls with our Creator, basking in the way He created us individually.

✙ Dear Heavenly Father,
We humbly ask You to be the center of our lives, starting now.  We trust You to continue molding us to Your Son, who loved us beyond our comprehension.  We thank You for Your new mercies every morning, and help us by Your Spirit wake up tomorrow with our soul yearning for You.  Amen.

  1. Being led by the Holy Spirit (and taking time to ask and listen to that guidance) is a big priority for me this year

Knocking on Heaven's Door

  "Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal." ~ Troy Ramey, artist My mom knocked on heaven's door this week, and was let in.  She had lived 94 years on this earth- through the Great Depression, tragedy, and a host of health issues- but plodded on with feistiness and a sense of humor. My mourning wasn't the only woe being experienced this week- miscarriages, mental illness, broken family relationships, fear of uncertainty - all woes this broken world has handed out to people I love.  And the prince of this world loves to throw them at us relentlessly.  Lord, how do we endure? How do we fight back the tendency to grow tired of it and let it rob us of our  joy? We ask God to give us the fruit of self-control and guard our minds.    "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things."...

The Power of 4

"Mathematics is the language with which  God  has  ruled the universe." ~ Galileo . Go back with me to a quick math lesson recall from Geometry (stay with me, it's short I promise).    Straight logic, right?  Let's apply one of the principles our Almighty God, the great Mathematician who designed numbers and the universe and our minds, created.   (a) - He knew we would need advice, help and support on this earth, in this broken life. (b) -  He gave us His Holy Scriptures, His Word, that miraculously survived over the years, to guide us. (c) -   He gave us the Holy Spirit as our "advocate", to help us understand His Word. So, therefore, our support, guidance and help comes by way of the Holy Spirit guiding us as we read the Bible- the holy, inspired Word of God.  Isn't math awesome?
