Fairy Gardens Rule

"I killed a goblin or two with a flash."
~ Gandalf, from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

🏑 I came across some fall villages I had bought months ago & forgot about.  When I unpacked them I realized I had a huge smile on my face.  Now I have been building a Christmas village for 39 years now, so imagine my heart leaping for joy when I discovered fall villages!  What genius soul created that- thank you!!

🏑 I know I have a weird fascination with fairy garden world.  Those cute miniatures just make my heart happy.  It's like a hobbit world without the bad goblins, trolls or wargs.  It's like a piece of the world where sin is not allowed, no mean people can live there, food has no carbs, everyone is kind, and each house has endless coffee brewing if you just happen to stop by.  And everyone has their own pumpkin patch.

Hmmm.  That reminds me of a place we read about where sin isn't allowed, where love abounds, Jesus is King and everyone adores Him.

🏑 Heaven.  One day we won't have to imagine it, read about it, or anticipate it.  It will be here and, as Christ-followers we will be living in it-

"But, as it is written, 'What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart
of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him-'" 1 Cor 2:9

No 'goblins' of sin will be there; no trolls or wargs causing suffering-

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more,
neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away." Revelations 21:4

Love rules everything; no one feels less than, but we all realize how much we are valued and loved-

"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matt 5:3

Jesus is King-

"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place,
and gave Him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth."

🏑 It will be upon us in a flash; a twinkling of an eye-

"in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.  For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed." 1 Cor 15:52

Heaven is a real, authentic, legitimate, truthful place prepared for us, as believers in Jesus as our Savior.

🏑 So mock fairy villages if you must (though it will be hard to call you friend anymore). Besides, my grandchildren love all my villages, and we know that's all that matters.

✙ Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for preparing for us a place beyond our wildest imagination, dreams and hopes.  Make our hearts & minds heaven-bound; cause us to be ever-mindful of sharing the hope of heaven with someone today, with our words or actions.  Amen.

How to Fight Back the Darkness

Crosswalk image Nothing makes Satan weak in the knees more than when we are on our knees."   ~ Skip Heitzig, Pastor Death.  Killing.  Violence.  What do we do with such heavy hearts in such a dark time? With the knot in our throats and the pit in our stomachs that are weighing on our souls?  When we look around us, nothing on this broken earth can fill our void of sadness and despair.   So we look up to the One who created all things and who alone has the power to bring light and help: "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.   What does help look like?  When does it come?  How much will we get?  Anger, confusion, bitterness, hostility, helplessness and fear overcome us in different ways and at different times.  We want reasons- we ask, "Why, Lord, why?" We instinctively want a reckoning- someone to pay for the injustice that has happened....

Christmas in July

Google image "I will honor Christmas in my heart and try  to keep it all year." ~ Scrooge, A Christmas Carol 🌞Alright, alright - I hear you.  Please don't talk about Christmas while you are enjoying summer.  (But someone needs to hear this - there are only 157 days left.)  And you know what comes out  first- the school supplies, then one day later the autumn decor.  Then three days after that is Christmas everything.  And my happy meter spikes:)  I can already smell the pumpkin spice latte.☕ Now some may think I'm trying to throw shade on the whole summer experience. 😎 And you would be right.  I only endure summer because fall is just around the corner, and I am finally able to celebrate this time of year appropriately, without a start to school.   I will admit I love the poppies that are growing in my yard.  And of course the baby deer.  And the garden tomatoes and peaches.  OK, summer does have some redeemi...

Salt or Pepper?

"You are the salt of the earth.  But remember that salt is useful when in association, but useless in isolation."  ~Israelmore Ayivor, Christian author πŸ‘€ "Every breath you take, every move you make, every bond you break, every step you take, I'll be watching you."   What a great song by  The Police , though a bit strong.  But do you  ever feel like you're being watched?  Like you are being judged because you profess to be a Christian, so people are evaluating your responses, your actions, your intentions?   As Jesus says in the book of Matthew 5 , we are to be the  ' salt of the earth' (Matt 5:13).  What does that mean, as a follower of Christ? πŸ‘€  And what if  sometimes we're more like pepper - spicy, with appearances of soil, and we make people respond with a sneeze - they just want to get us out of their system?  Are we kicked out for letting God down? (Why did I choose a cat for this one?) What does s...
